San Benedetto del Tronto

Welcome to the 'Riviera delle Palme'

The uncontested Queen of Marche

San Benedetto del Tronto is also known as 'Riviera delle Palme' for its characteristic 6 km long promenade completely adorned with beautiful palm trees.

Planning a holiday in San Benedetto del Tronto will satisfy everyone’s taste. It is a magical place where you can spend peaceful days immersed in a tropical atmosphere, thanks to the largest density of palm trees in Europe from which the name “Riviera delle Palme” derives.

You can enjoy a promenade, considered one of the most beautiful in Europe, recently renewed and transformed into a pedestrian path with botanical gardens, games for children, waterfalls and watercourses, and cycle paths.

Besides, you will enjoy long beaches characterized by various beach clubs carefully selected to meet everyone’s needs: from the more traditional ones born in the 50s, for those who love tranquillity, to the most fashionable and trendy ones, with all the possible comforts and services.

Furthermore, for those who love freedom, they take advantage of the public beaches between one beach club and the other.

Since 1999, the city has been awarded the ‘Blue Flag’, the acknowledgment that the FEE – Foundation for Environmental Education – releases to European coastal resorts that meet quality criteria for pure water, clean coasts, safety, and access to all.

For the younger ones, the numerous clubs of the Sambenedettese nightlife guarantee delicious happy hours, dinners, music, and dancing until dawn.

The gourmets will appreciate the many local specialties based on fresh fish, offered by the numerous restaurants, from the most rustic to the most luxurious and exclusive. Try the famous ‘Brodetto Alla Sambenedettese’ – lu vrudètte – a unique fish soup.

Instead, for those who wish to enrich their stay with cultural highlights, you can visit the many museums that tell the history and maritime traditions of the city: the Fish Museum, the Amphora Museum, the Maritime Civilization Museum and the charming open-air Museum MAM (Museum of Art on the Sea) which extends for over a kilometer along the South Pier promenade and hosts over 140 sculptures made on the breakwater blocks.

Numerous sports facilities are available for sports enthusiasts. From the athletics track, the skating rink, the municipal swimming pool, up to the “Maggioni” tennis complex, which in July hosts an international tournament; as well as the 6 km of promenade for jogging lovers and about 15 km of cycle path that runs along the beach and joins the towns of San Benedetto del Tronto, Grottammare and Cupra Marittima.

Families with children will find a variety of possibilities to entertain their kids. Besides the fine sandy beach and the shallow and gradually sloping waters, there are many green areas, such as the pinewoods of the City Centre equipped with games and inflatables.

San Benedetto del Tronto also offers a marvelous pedestrian course, with bars and restaurants and the shopping area. Moreover, plenty of entertainment opportunities for adults and children are organized on summer evenings, like the suggestive antique market “L’Antico e le Palme” which takes place in June and August.

San Benedetto del Tronto is simply one of the most beautiful places in Italy, a tourist destination not to be missed.
