Alba Adriatica

Crystal clear waters, soft and sandy coast, for a relaxation made of comfort and fun

The silver beach a stone's throw from natural beauties

The Abruzzo coast boasts seven locations known for their crystal-clear sea and the remarkable care of their beaches, which over the years have obtained the prestigious “Blue Flag” award.

Alba Adriatica (TE) is located on the Adriatic coast, a few kilometers from the border with the Marche. It can be reached by the A14 motorway, near the Val Vibrata exit and is considered one of the most famous seaside resorts on the Abruzzo coast.

Together with the centers of Martinsicuro, Tortoreto, Giulianova, Roseto degli Abruzzi, Pineto and Silvi, it represents one of the “seven sisters” of the Adriatic coast of the Teramo province. It has a splendid stretch of beach that makes it an ideal destination both for those seeking relaxation and for lovers of fun and active holidays. Recently established (it was born as an autonomous municipality in 1956 following the separation from nearby Tortoreto), it has been awarded the Blue Flag several times and in 2019 also the orange flag of the Italian Touring Club. Alba Adriatica is also known as the Silver Beach for the presence of a wide and sandy coastline with silvery hues and for its crystalline waters that turn an intense blue in the warmer seasons. The Guglielmo Marconi seafront that runs along it is equipped with a wide and well-equipped cycle path, one of the first built in the region, an integral part of the Bike to Coast project relating to the creation of a single cycle path along the entire Abruzzo coast, in turn a segment of the national project of the Adriatic Green Corridor. Traveling along the road in perfect safety (on foot, by bike or on roller skates) it is possible to admire plants, flowers and evergreen vegetation, take a pleasant break on comfortable benches or near monumental fountains or refresh yourself with good food in the bars, chalets and restaurants present in the area. Some destinations to visit are:

The Torrione, a pyramid-shaped watchtower built by the Spanish in the 16th century, with the upper base surrounded by Guelph battlements and used as a storage area for artillery pieces. Restored and redeveloped as a restaurant-pizzeria, it is the only medieval monument preserved in good condition despite having become, over the years, part of the city’s urban complex;

Spiaggia del Fratino and del Giglio di Mare, a protected area recognized by the WWF dedicated to the protection of the small wading bird and the spontaneous flower typical of the Mediterranean coasts, both in danger of extinction;

Villa Palma, recognized as one of the most beautiful and ancient residences in Alba Adriatica, built on the basis of a project dating back to 1308. Cylindrical in shape, it is developed on two staggered elements and is covered by a terrace surrounded by wrought iron parapets.
